In contrast to the view of this world of instant
gratification, God sees your life as a progressive climb of sanctification, a
child of light whose beacon brightens and rises with each step that you build.77
To Him it is not how fast you build your steps, but rather with what
materials. Of what is the content of
your life made? Consider the
accomplishments in your life as represented by bricks, building blocks used for
creating your steps. Does a pile of
bricks, seemingly with no divine purpose, represent your life, or are they
fashioned together with the mortar of the Creator of the universe, the Maker of
all things with “Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone?”78 Building
the steps with divine purpose requires involving God, and whenever He is involved,
your patience and perseverance is required.
