MEDITATION MOMENT – Funeral for a Friend

I awoke that morning—the morning that I knew I would visit the funeral for a friend. He had not yet died, yet he would when I attended it. I witnessed death—death to himself. He sat in a judgment seat with his persecutors before him. A list of lies was read to him. He did not say a word. Then, the cord of their lies was cut with a rebuke—one that came suddenly as though spoken from an angel that guarded his soul.
My friend spoke from his heart, “I’m sorry I did not meet your expectations. Sincerely, I— ”
The judge abruptly cut off his words, “So, you said that you cannot meet our expectations.”
“No, I said, I’m sorry I did not meet your expectations.”
“What is your choice?” the judge asked sternly.
“Walk out the door and never look back,” my friend resolutely said.
My friend rose from a judgment seat in the courtroom of Mammon. He opened the door, walked over the threshold, and closed the door while not looking back. His back to Mammon, he walked towards his destiny, to face his pursuit.
At his own funeral, he met the expectations of his Father, the Judge of Truth, for the angels in the courtroom of heaven heard Him say—
“Well done, good and faithful servant. You are my son with whom I am well pleased.”
