God’s Children

“I will make my words known to you.” ~Proverbs 1:23

Children, you are sons and daughters of God, children of light. You have accepted Jesus the Christ as your Savior and confessed with your mouth the belief in your heart that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, who gave His life sacrificed on the cross, to die for all your sins, to rise from the dead on the third day, to appear before His disciples and hundreds of witnesses for forty days prior to His ascension into heaven, where He sits living even today at the right hand of the throne of God. Because of this confession of your belief, you have God’s Spirit living within you, His Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth, to remind you of everything holy that you have been taught:

God’s Word that you read and study, on which you meditate and memorize, inscribing it on the tablet of your heart.

God’s Ways in which your parents, grandparents, and teachers instruct you and provide examples of righteous living, modeling Christ’s character.

God’s Wisdom spoken directly to you through His Word and His Holy Spirit.

This is what God inspired King Solomon, the wisest of all men, to tell his son:

“My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline and do not resent His rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those He loves, as a father the son he delights in. If you respond to the LORD’s rebuke, He will pour out His heart to you and make His thoughts known to you.”1

Children, receive instructions from your parents, grandparents, teachers, and God with an open heart and mind committed to good behavior. Follow their instructions and God’s commands that you read in your Holy Bible, and God will bless you with a long life, rich in love, joy, and peace. Listen to what God tells you in your Holy Bible:

“Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many. I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble. Hold onto instruction; do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.2

Solomon’s father, King David, told him:

“As you dwell in the shelter of the most High, He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge. For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.” Children, God, who is your heavenly Father, gives you this promise: “Because you love me, I will rescue you; I will protect you, for you acknowledged my name. You will call upon Me, and I will answer you. I will be with you in trouble; I will deliver you and honor you. With long life will I satisfy you and show you my salvation.” 3

May the blessings of God’s Word cover you, children, all of your days, and may God’s love, joy, and peace continue to grow in your hearts as you become godly young men and women.
